Am Filipina from Cebu, married to an American and living in the States. My late Father-in-Law , a USA Navy officer, used to tell me stories about and show me photos of post-war Italy. It was fascinating.

Meglio tardi che mai... I found this topic after 44 messages... well, what about me? I'm a Reserve Captain of Granatieri di Sardegna, Italian Army, and I was in Somalia in 1994 with UNIFIL (op. Restore Hope).
My passion is military history (I had published until now a book on WWI in Italy and on MVSN in Ethiopia. A further book about the Piave battle, june 1918, will be publ in april, and I have just ended an history of MVSN units on Russian front) I'm also a reenactor, Xa mas and Italian SS but also fallschirmjager.
A curiosity: my father was an officier in the cobelligerent Regio Esercito and my mather was Ausiliaria, I batt. bersaglieri Mussolini, Repubblica Sociale Italiana.
Ciao a tutti!

Hi! My name is Joe Perduno, I live in the UK. Born here as my father was a POW from North Africa. I came across this site when I was searching for some information that was on a photograph of my father during his military service. On the photo he is in uniform with '28' on the cap badge, and with the inscription 'Foto Bezzi' 38 Ravenna on the photo. I then started to get interested in his military service, and am gradually piecing bits together. My father still has family in his home town, Grottaglie in Puglia, where we visit often. There is a guy there who is 88 years old who was captured in Tobruk who is interesting to talk to.
I apologise in advance if I ask questions on the forum that have already been answered, but as a new menber, there is a lot to look at!

tracy you will find much information here, but first hand accounts from your grandfather himself are likely your best source

Ciao tutti.

My names Mike. I live in England. I like history, especially military. My wife is italian (wll half anyway) at the moment we reenact The Royal Navy and US Navy of WW2. We're mainly interested in Navy stuff.

Currently I'm looking into a WW1 uniform after Annas grandfather who was made "cavaliere" for his bravery and looking to complete some Regia Marina uniforms after her great uncle who was in the navy and was killed on Rhodes.

Glad I found this site.

Hi my name is Cindi and my dad was also a Italian POW that was sent to camp Ono. Sounds like your dad and mine were together. My dad told me all about the same places. My dad did pass 3 years ago but would have been around the same age as your dad. I was wondering if he might know him? Can you let me know. His name was Tullio Gobber. I hope you can e mail me and navigate though this system . C
