Salve David

Are associated with the Regio Esercito History Group that does Bersaglieri? Good group of people.

If you need any assistance, just ask!

This is Joe Hinds and I have received much helpful information in the creation of my MTB book series, The Ship Killers. I have forgotten how far back I go with this site but it must be 1999 or 2000.

James Heddlesten has put my art work on this site for a very long time. I am forever grateful. Now I want to ask about using photo images that are on the site. I am just now getting ready for Volume 6-1941.There are four more volumes to go and then this will be finally finished.

My book is being published through Nimble Books LLC at Nimble books.com. Anybody who has ever toyed with the idea of writing a book really should talk to Fred Zimmerman, Publisher of Nimble Books. He is a great gut to work with and he loves navy history. If you have enough photos you could make a photo book and share your information with the world.

Good luck and I will be dropping in now and then-time permitting.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Postby Athanatos » Sun May 31, 2009 12:30 pm

I found this forum after advice from a “Capt Lorenzo” on Battlefront's Flames of War forum; I am the same Athanatos that is on the FOW forum and The Warhammer Forum.

I got into wargaming when my eldest son was almost a teenager 20 odd years ago and started buying White Dwarf. (He's just made me a Grandfather, and about time too!) He gave up wargames years ago but I was hooked and played the GW fantasy stuff for years (my online nick was the name of my Elven General – it is Greek for Immortal) until discovering FoW a couple of years ago and choosing Italians as there were no others in the club; they certainly have character! I find the realism of this style of wargaming much better and have given up the fantasy stuff.

In real life, my name is David and I am a consultant anaesthetist in the RAF with the rank of Group Captain (that's anesthesiologist and a 'fullbird' Colonel for our american readers) and visit Afghanistan frequently (my role is transfer of the critically ill) and deploy there every so often. If the jpg upload works, it is a 'self portrait' taken in the back seat of a Harrier trainer a/c somewhere over the Scotland/England border.

I have joined Commando Supremo so that when I use an Italian army in FoW I can base it on actual units. Unfortunately I seem to have taken a liking to Motociclisti, which seem to be harder to pin down a given company at a certain battle than 'plain' Bersaglieri.

Being RAF, I am also interested in the RAF Regiment in North Africa. What is now 2 Sqn RAF Regt was once the RAF No 2 Armoured Car Company and fought as 'D' Sqn 11 Hussars and gained the El Alamein Battle Honour for its Sqn standard.

I would like to welcome all the new members, and I hope you find your visits here enlightening and enjoyable.

The fourm is what it appears to be: a place for people interested in WWII Italy military history to share their knowledge and views of the Italian wartime effort. The fourm has nothing to do with current events in Italy, although there is a folder where these things can be discussed. If you share ourt interest in wartime Italy, please join in the discussions.
