I guess I can chime in too. I stumbled upon this site by accident, mostly looking for some material on Italy in World War II because I was bored of studying about the over analyzed German military. My handle is the same as my real name, though I am not Italian (Mexican and German across the board). My interests include from all periods and countries, foreign languages (besides English I speak German and Vietnamese), reading, soccer, hiking, reenacting, and philosophy. I'm 21 and married, my wife being from Vietnam. I also enjoy flight sims, namely Il-2 Forgotten Battles. Military aviation was the initial spark into my interest of military history.

I go to college, run my own business, and have a part-time job on top of that.

Currently I have a World War II German and Japanese impression, but I'll probably sell my Japanese impression and replace it with an Italian.

Well, I'm sure no one has been hanging by their thumbs waiting for this, and I have no picture to post, at this time, as I'm sure Jim wants people to return to the site, and not be scared off.

I saw this site mentioned in some article a couple of months ago, but I don't recall where, which is probably just as well, they would have to take the blame then.

I'm ah... do I have to say my age? Darn! OK, 54. I live in Cleveland, Ohio. We have a nice area in town called "Little Italy," I might add.

I became interested in WWII wargaming way back in the 60s (1960s, that is :D ). That led to an interest in the early 1970s in the military units of many nations, but Italian units and WWII history have dominated my time during those decades leading up to the present. I frequently refer to "my Italians," when I talk about WWII military units. I have, or have notes from, many of the Italian official history books on WWII, as well as many other books/articles on the subject, and I own about 60 reels of microfilm of the Italian military records captured by Allied forces during WWII. (I might note; most, but not all, of these records were captured by the Allies from the Germans, who had taken them over from the Italians in late 1943.) Many of the reels I own have Italian military situation maps with the various units in great detail.

I also love music, especially rock music, and my favorite rock group is The Moody Blues; followed by The Guess Who, the Electric Light Orchestra, and Kansas. The list of groups/performers could go on and on, so I'll stop there. I own probably about 600 CDs and still have some of my vinyl records, including singles, from the 60s through the late 80s, when they began to die out.

Further, I have had a passion for genealogy, although some of that has lessened in the last several years, and I have let my cousin take over doing the family line and history, with occasional forays into the subject again by myself.

Lastly, I love to "joke around," and many of my friends over the years have said that I should have been a comedian. So, please don't take offense, if I poke a little fun at some posts on occasion. :D

Hello Everyone. My name is Raphael, I am 31 y.o. and I am from Switzerland. I am half Italian and half Swiss (French/German). I like military history. I am police officer. My father is born in Italy and we still have our family house in San Leo. I have two daughters who live in Italy. I am living and working in Bosnia.

I knew Comando Supremo site since a long time but it was the first time today I read the forum. I was looking for information about some WWII Italian units. I may start an impression of Carabineri if I manage to have some spare time.

Postby Bill White » Thu Jul 20, 2006 3:25 am

Greetings,

My name is Bill White and I'm 38 years old. I spent some time in my teens studying the North Africa Theatre of Operations in WWII but moved to other interests for reasons I can't think of now...wait...it was to pursue girls, study ancient Republican Rome and learn computer systems.

Anyway, interest has been rekindled again and with the advent of the internet I'm learning more than ever before. Or at least I can spend time browsing at work waiting for my latest book aquisitions to arrive!

I always prefer to reference primary sources or sources that reference (specifically) primary sources or official histories. With my new appreciation with the role Italy played during WWII, I'm thinking of taking some courses to learn the Italian language.

I'm also a miniature wargamer, mostly because I can't paint on canvas or produce anything creative so 3D "painting by numbers" fits my desires nicely. :D
Best Regards,
Bill White

I ask the permission to go aboard...

My real name is Andrea and I'm a marine geologist. I live near Rome but I'm from Sardinia.

I've always been intersted in history, especially modern History...you know, my Father taught me reading on WWII airplanes and ships books...in this period my interest is focused in bunkers...I
don't know if I will be able to give something new to this Forum because allof you seem very competent....

Welcome aboard.

Contributing is not compulsory, if you want to just sit back & learn! :)

There are plenty of discussions going on at any given time that need no specialist knowledge.

Enjoy the Forum. They're a good bunch.
(Even though they are prone to momentary lapses of reason, ergo, making me a mod!) :D
Cheers; Dave.

Postby Davide Pastore » Fri Sep 15, 2006 9:09 am

Hello.

As usual, I remembered to introduce myself only after having written a number of posts elsewhere  .

My name is Davide Pastore (would have you guessed it?). I'm Italian (Piedmontese, to be precise :P ) and I live in a liiiiiiittle mountain town with a girlfriend and five "childrens" (although a dispassionate observer would probably call them "cats").

I'm 42 and I'm a Lieutenant Colonel in the Italian Air Force (but not a pilot), hence the avatar. I love books, history, cooking and cats.

I'm one of the moderators of the usenet newsgroup it.cultura.storia.militare (the only military history NG in Italian language).

You can find more about me in my website about my real obsession (the American Civil War).

Actually, in a sense I do. Since, as you can see, my "furry children" sometimes seat at the human table (else, they may take offence).
