Additional Notes

Alfredo Guzzoni graduated from the Royal Military Academy of Modena on 30 October 1896. Taken prisoner by fascist forces in September 1944, he was tried for treason and sentenced to death. Guzzoni was saved from execution by a firing squad thanks to the testimony of his German colleagues, who confirmed his loyalty to the Axis in the defense of Sicily.
