    Battle of Nikolayevka 1943.

Hello. Question concerning the battle of Nikolayevka 1943. I have never seen a listing, either unit description or strength, of the Soviet forces pitted against the Axis in this battle. Anyone have any info? Thank you.

Italian forces in China during the 30’s

Hello. I was reading a book on US Marine LT General Chesty Puller. A chapter was discussing his time in China during the 1930’s. The author briefly mentioned that the Italians had a force stationed in China as well at the time. Does anyone have some info on the unit and what became of their...

    Best Italian Aircraft in WWII

Out of your choices I will go with the SM.79. Real workhorse for RA. Maybe best land based torpedo bomber in the war?? My "favorite" however is the MC.202 Folgore. Needed to be 'up-gunned' but man is it a good looking plane!

Looking for suggestions/opinions on what is the best overall book on the battles of El Alamein. I have read several, but wonder what this group likes that gives a balanced (or as much as possible) account from German, British, and ITALIAN perspective/sources. As we know, it is the Italian role...

    A wrong strategy?

The endgame I think was determined more by math than a delayed decision to fight a defensive strategy. Better control of the seas meant the U.K. could bring more supplies, more men, more of what they would need than the Italians could. The Duke for the most part had what he had. The side...

    A wrong strategy?

I agree with Dili here. The amount of supplies ( fuel, transportation, etc) needed to pull off a successful campaign of that nature, over that terrain seems highly improbable. I have never seen anything documented about any serious planning done here. The Duke’s plan to fight a defensive...
