3rd Celere OOB In Russia

My friends,

I recently found an Italian soldier living in a city nearby me (I live in Brazil). His name is Fausto Bugatti, 90 years old, and he was in Russia with the CSIR. Bugatti was a courier and also worked in an intelligence unit, interrogating soviet prisoners. Although he doesn't remember his division-level unit, he said to me that he was part of a "3. Autocentro di Milano".

Looking at the OOB of 3rd Celere in Wikipedia, I found a "3. Transportation Unit", as you can see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_Cavalry_Division_Amedeo_Duca_d'Aosta

So, could this "3. Autocentro di Milano" be the 3. Transportation Unit in the 3rd Celere?

sincerly: data from italian official history exclude a transport unit numbered 3 in PADA division, again a divisional transport unit should be indicated as an autoreparto or an autogruppo.

Opposite an autocentro (literally vehicle center) seems me more as a depot/park unit, I don't know if as army or corps level asset (remember that the corps garrisoned in Milan was the III). This kind of unit would have easily formed mobilized units to be employed on front. It's curious and new for me to see a connection to intelligence duties, but anyway interesting.

Resuming, I'd tell we're speaking about a corps/army asset and research for division is probably useless

I did a scan for this unit in I servizi logistici della unità italiane al fronte Russo (1941-1943). I couldn’t find any transportation or road unit with that number.

In Oct 19423 the PADA had the following transportation units (Documento 89/sv):

XIV Autogruppo pesante;
218° e 219° autoporti pesanti;
122° autporte leggero;
213° autoporto misto;
3° officina di autogruppo mod. 37.

I couldn’t find any reference to an autocentro. None of the corps or army level units were numbered 3 or III.

So, the Army Corps garrisoned in Milan was the III Army Corps? I guess it must be it... I started the research the wrong way, looking for division-level attachments. No wonder Mr. Bugatti had no idea about division subordination.

In this case, is it possible to get an OOB for the 3º Corpo d'Armata in 1940-1941?

Okay!

The question now would be: this 3° Centro Automobilistico (or sections of it) went to the USSR? If so, was it subordinated to the Corps or Divisional command?

In the list of the awarned "autieri" in Russia I found 2 names referred to member of 3° reggimento autieri - On 1942 3° autocentro was renamed 3° autieri, so it seems to be confirmed that the unit was in Russia on 1942-43
