Askari Battalion Organisation?

Hi,
Can anyone confirm the organisation of an Eritrean or Somali Askari battalion in 1940? Three rifle companies? Any heavy weapons?

Hey Doug, My copy of "Mare Nostrum" by Jack Green (1990) says three rifle companies and one machine gun company. I see notations from years ago saying 6 light MGs per rifle company (I wonder what kind of LMG?) and 6 medium MGs for the machine gun company. (Probably Schwarzlose M07/12s captured from the Austro-Hungarians). 800 men, about. I'm sure that more recent scholarship known by others will have uncovered much more information. Look forward to reading about it.
