Italian Division Chronologies

I just bought your Italian Paratrooper book - it's excellent!

I have a question. Are there any reference books that give Italian Divisional chronologies, in English or Italian? I'm researching divisional movements between theaters, and need dates on those movements.

Good day Brad

Thank you for the compliment. I am happy you enjoyed the book.

RE: Division movements. Likely the best starting point is Pier Paolo Battistelli's Mussolini's Army at War (2021). He lists the armies, corps, and divisions during the war. Each entry provides a brief history of the unit, a simple OB at various times during the war, and then an assignment history (year/month, major commands, theater, generalized location in theater). The book is available through Amazon or other major distributers.

Here is the entry for the 3º div. ftr. «Ravenna»

Those pages look like English translations of pages from Battastelli's article, "Le Grandi Unita Commandi e Divisioni....."
in Bollettino dell'Archivio dell'Ufficio Storico Gennaio/Dicembre 2002 Anno II n. 3-4
Which you can 'view' but not download (except by individual page via screenshots) on Internet Archive

The book is in fact an implementation of that article....Battistelli graduated on that topic and then used the research done for the book which, however, is very incomplete as it does not contain any of the units at the Army and Army Corps level.....

Yes, as Maurizio stated, basically a dissertation turned into a book.

I agree the book has limitations as it only addresses major units, but trying to do more would be a lifetime's worth of work. It has actually been a bit handier/useful than I initially expected.

Yes, but it is of little use to those who need to search for information on anti-aircraft and anti-tank forces, artillery of the Army and Army Corps, coastal defenses, GAF, etc. etc.....
ALl the best
