Italian Support Units

I read your original post on AHF. Bottomline many of these units are detachments/sections from a larger organizations as others have mentioned, especially if a base-support unit. You can ferret out the identification of artillery units (coastal, AA, etc.), but these are not considered support units, they are part of the garrison. Trying to identify support units such as laundry, maintenance, veterinarian, etc. is likely an unachievable task.

To use the US Army as an example, you have TO&E and TDA units. Table of Organization & Equipment (TO&E) units are standardized units used to fight wars. If a division needs a bath and laundry unit, there is a numbered TO&E unit designed to fulfill that function. A Table of Distributions and Allowances (TDA) unit/organization is based on location and the mission it is expected to perform. It is tailored to the specific requirements of that specific location. The personnel and equipment to support the laundry requirement at Tobruk is likely different from what is needed to support the requirement at Tripoli. Many of these requirements are met by using civilians instead of military.

So looking at Leros, how much of the base support was executed by TO&E units and how much was being done by the men (soldiers and civilians) authorized as part of the garrison and paid by the Italian government?
