Are there any memoirs from Italian troops on the Soviet front that are available to read in English? I'd be interested to see a first-hand look at this subject.
In Italian there is "Centomila gavette di ghiaccio" by Giulio Bedeschi, "Il sergente della neve" by Mario Rigoni Stern, "L'alpino dalle sette vite sul fronte russo" by Massimo Toschi. The only English translation I've found is the one by Rigoni Stern: https://www.ibs.it/sergeant-in-snow-libro-inglese-mario-rigoni-stern/e/9780810160552 You might be able to find a copy somewhere.
If it is the translation of La strada del davai it is a collection of memoirs, extremely interesting for the description of the captivity of ARMIR soldiers (the part about the deployment and fighting before the capture is usually rather concise in most accounts).
