If you wish to have a better understanding of political/military decision making before and during the war,
Mussolini's War is a excellent source. Prof. Gooch goes into the challenges facing Fascist Italy when given the goals set by Mussolini. It is clearly written and is well documented. He discusses the strategic and operational decisions during the war and how politics affected those decisions.
Mussolini's War helps to tie together the various campaigns fought by Italy which tend to be discussed individually without the overarching strategic framework.
